Product definition

What is Dunaliella beta-carotene oil?

Carovive® Dunaliella beta-carotene oil is an oil-soluble concentrate made from Dunaliella salina powder through either ethyl acetate extraction or supercritical CO₂ extraction. The concentrate is standardized in a corn-oil or olive-oil carrier, confirmed by product code. The current portfolio spans fixed and custom grades from 1% to 30% natural beta-carotene. It is the usual starting format for softgels and other lipid systems, while water-based products require an emulsification strategy or a microencapsulated format.

Route comparison

Choose the oil by extraction route, potency and carrier.

Both routes produce oil-soluble natural beta-carotene concentrates. Their potency ranges and residual-solvent statements are not interchangeable.

Our product team can help identify a suitable catalogue grade. Include the product code when requesting a specification, representative COA, SDS or sample.

Grade selection

Move from formulation need to a qualified product code in four steps.

Each step removes unsuitable grades and ties the sample and document request to a specific product code.

Start a grade discussion
  1. 01
    Dosage form

    Confirm an oil-phase application

Use oil as the starting point for softgels, lipid systems and other oil-soluble formulations.

  2. 02
    Potency

    Choose fixed or custom concentration

Select within the route-specific 1–30% portfolio rather than choosing concentration independently of route.

  3. 03
    Technical route

    Choose extraction route and carrier

Confirm ethyl acetate or supercritical CO₂ extraction and the corn-oil or olive-oil carrier by code.

  4. 04
    Qualification

    Review residual-solvent wording and documents

Use the applicable Spec, representative batch COA and SDS / MSDS for the selected product code.

Purchasing and quality questions

Questions to resolve before product qualification.

These answers define a starting point. Final suitability, stock, lead time and documents are confirmed for the product code and destination market.

01Is Dunaliella beta-carotene oil natural or chemically synthesized?

It is a natural algal beta-carotene concentrate made from Dunaliella salina powder, not chemically synthesized beta-carotene. The selected extraction route and carrier oil are defined by product code.

02What is the difference between RE and SE oil grades?

RE grades use ethyl acetate extraction with a total residual-solvent specification of ≤20 ppm. SE grades use supercritical CO₂ extraction and are described as having no residual extraction solvent.

03Which carrier oil is used?

Current grades can use corn oil or olive oil as the carrier. Confirm the carrier for the selected product code before formulation and label review.

04Can the oil be used in beverages?

The oil is designed for softgels and oil-phase systems. A water-based beverage needs an emulsification strategy or a water-dispersible microencapsulated grade.

05What is the current MOQ and which documents can I request?

The default oil MOQ is 10 kg. Buyers can request the current Product Specification, a representative batch COA, SDS / MSDS, applicable certificates and paid-sample availability for the selected code.
