Product definition

What is Dunaliella microencapsulated powder?

Carovive® Dunaliella salina microencapsulated powder converts Dunaliella oil into a protected, water-dispersible powder through emulsification, encapsulation and drying. Unlike whole-algae powder, it contains a declared carrier system that can be adjusted for the formulation and may include maltodextrin, gum arabic, modified starch and antioxidants. The current portfolio covers 1–10% natural beta-carotene through ethyl-acetate-oil and supercritical-CO₂-oil routes. It is designed for beverages, gummies and drink powders rather than simple oil-phase systems.

Our product team can help identify a suitable catalogue grade. Include the product code when requesting a specification, representative COA, SDS or sample.

Grade selection

Move from formulation need to a qualified product code in four steps.

Each step removes unsuitable grades and ties the sample and document request to a specific product code.

Start a grade discussion
  1. 01
    Dosage form

    Confirm a water-dispersible requirement

Use microencapsulated powder for beverages, gummies and drink-powder systems that need dispersion.

  2. 02
    Potency

    Choose fixed or custom concentration

Select a 1% or 8% starting grade, or discuss a custom 1–10% specification.

  3. 03
    Technical route

Choose upstream oil route and carrier system

Confirm the RE or SE route and disclose the agreed carrier composition for the target market.

  4. 04
    Qualification

    Test dispersion and review documents

Evaluate the sample in the final formula and request the current Spec, representative COA and SDS / MSDS.

Purchasing and quality questions

Questions to resolve before product qualification.

These answers define a starting point. Final suitability, stock, lead time and documents are confirmed for the product code and destination market.

01How is microencapsulated powder different from whole-algae powder?

Whole-algae powder is dried biomass without added excipients. Microencapsulated powder starts from Dunaliella oil and uses a declared carrier system to create a protected, water-dispersible ingredient.

02Is microencapsulated powder fully water-soluble?

It is designed to be water-dispersible, not described as molecularly water-soluble. Dispersion, colour and stability must be tested in the final beverage, gummy or powder system.

03Which carrier materials can be used?

The customizable carrier system may include maltodextrin, gum arabic, modified starch and antioxidants. The final composition is confirmed for the selected grade and destination market.

04What is the difference between RE and SE microencapsulated grades?

The distinction is the upstream Dunaliella oil route. RE grades use ethyl-acetate-extracted oil; SE grades use supercritical-CO₂-extracted oil with no residual extraction solvent.

05What is the current MOQ and which documents can I request?

The default microencapsulated-powder MOQ is 300 kg. Buyers can request the current Product Specification, a representative batch COA, SDS / MSDS and a formulation discussion for the selected code.
